China Announces New Opportunities For Highly-skilled Foreigners Seeking Work Visas

8th January 2018

China is hoping to entice highly-skilled workers into the country, with the lure of long-term visas. The aim is to attract the likes of scientists, entrepreneurs and technological leaders to fulfil its rising talent needs. And the promise of multi-entry visas which are valid for five to 10 years is the bait.

It’s expected that 50,000 or more foreigners will benefit from the change. And, with a large number of Brits expected to fit the new criteria, relocating to the far east is very real possibility for many.

China’s State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs (SAFEA), Foreign Ministry and the Ministry of Public Security have jointly stated that applications for visas can be made online and are free of charge. Crucially, they will also be quickly processed, and those who are successful will be permitted to bring family with them.

“This is all very exciting - and looks to be an excellent opportunity for those seeking a new challenge elsewhere,” says Adrian Leach, managing director of relocation specialist HCR.

“The application process appears to be relatively straightforward too. But if visas are to be processed quickly, there is much to arrange for those upping sticks from the UK and moving their lives to a completely new country and culture.

“Taking up an overseas post presents more of a challenge than many people might think. The logistics can be taken care of - particularly when movers call on the services of specialist relocation companies like ours - but there are other considerations that can so often make the difference between the success and failure of a move.

“It is our business to manage relocations for clients moving abroad for work - and we have been doing it for many years. “Finding somewhere for them to live, organising work visas, setting up utilities, finding schools - and even organising work for spouses - is straightforward for us. Our specialists are highly experienced and tailor their services to meet the needs of each individual. But sometimes it’s the little things that go a long way to helping people settle in, and we’re here to help with those too.

“For some, getting to know a completely new country, with different cultures, sights and sounds, is a complete delight - but for others it’s a real challenge. The opportunity to spend time living and working in China will be too good to miss for many. And our specialists are standing by to guide them through it, every step of the way…”
